Zimbabwe: presidential poll recount ‘completed today’ as Robert Mugabe loses control of parliament

Four weeks of post-election stalemate could end in Zimbabwe today if a recount of votes in the presidential elections is completed, electoral officials said.
George Chiweshe, chairman of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), said: “We trust that by Monday, April 28 this process will have been concluded… leading to the announcement of the result of the presidential election. GENEVA, (RNW)– The United Nations refugee agency, UNHCR, is warning that the situation of Somali refugees has reached crisis point. Many Somalis have fled to neighbouring Kenya, but the camps there are too full.
The UN says the situation in Somalia has become much worse over recent months. About one million people are housed in refugee camps in Somalia itself, most of them in the capital Mogadishu.
Last week alone, about 8,000 people fled the capital because of the increasing level of violence perpetrated by militias. Somalia has been rocked by civil wars since 1991.

Some 7,000 people have fled the Somali capital Mogadishu after a new round of fighting this week that killed a significant number of civilians and reportedly wounded 200 people, including women and children, the United Nations refugee agency announced today. Nairobi: The representative of UN Secretary General for Somalia, Ahmedou Ould Abdallah, was received Wednesday by President Ismail Omar Guelleh. The head of state and UN diplomats have long referred to the Somali problem and agreed to work together to try to find ways and means to put an end to this long crisis. Intervention is a must. The world cannot afford to stand by and allow another Rwanda to unfold in Zimbabwe. Amnesty International refutes statements made by the Ethiopian government on its report about a raid on the Al Hidya Mosque in Mogadishu on 19 April 2008. In the attack, Ethiopian forces killed at least 21 people, including 11 unarmed civilians inside the mosque, and detained at least 40 children and youths, aged 9 to 18. On Tuesday the case of Teddy Afro was adjourned to next Tuesday by the kangaroo court of Ethiopia (Woyann ) .
Teddy Afro was sent back to jail, again on alleged hit-and-run charges and denied to be released on bail on Tuesday.
We Ethiopian advocacy council believe in our court system here in the USA, where its citizen are protected according to their constitutional rights, but now we deal with a country where its government can implements any law it chooses at any given moment. . Two influential international think tanks are recommending independence and diplomatic recognition of Somaliland “sooner rather than later”. In its latest report, the Senlis Council underlines the need for quick and official recognition of Somaliland. This is echoed by the International Crisis Group, which also supports international recognition of Somaliland’s right to statehood.
