Children as young as six are being sexually abused by peacekeepers and aid workers, says a leading UK charity.

Somalia on the verge of collapse, aid officials and residents say

MOGADISHU, SOMALIA — Along the ghostly streets of Mogadishu, just about the only traffic nowadays consists of starving cats and goats searching for food. They race toward the occasional pedestrian, crying for scraps.

Their owners fled the city’s violence long ago, leaving more than half of Somalia’s capital deserted. Shops are closed. Burned-out cars sit abandoned by the side of the road. Other than soldiers and militiamen, only the most desperate of people frequent the streets, including orphans and old women who sometimes are forced to compete with the strays for food. Mugabe labels U.S. diplomat a ‘prostitute’

(CNN) — Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe has warned against outside influences in next month’s run-off election, likening one American diplomat to a “prostitute” and threatening to oust another from his country.

The chairman of the alliance of the liberation of Somalia sheikh Sharif Sheikh has revealed that Eritrea government carries process wants to break up the alliance he chairs.

Speaking at a news conference he held in Djiboutian capital Djibouti he declared that that Eritrea is accountable for the pitch-black relations between the senior leaders of the alliance after some of the officials in the coalition have accused some members of the groups those took part the failed talks in Djibouti that they were not representing the alliance. ON THE DJIBOUTIAN-ERITREAN BORDER – The distance between the rival armies is shorter than the barrel of a gun. Hundreds of opposing troops are lined up on the border, staring each other down, from just inches away.

AU and Woyanne troops in Somalia ’selling arms’

 UN monitors have accused Ugandan peacekeepers of selling arms to Muslim fighters battling the Somali transitional government and Woyanne  soldiers in Somalia.

Woyanne sentences eight Somalis rebels to death

The Kangaroo court of Ethiopia sentenced to death eight alleged members of a separatist rebel group for an attack last year which left six people dead, officials told AFP Thursday.
“The Somali State High Court sentenced eight culprits to death for killing and wounding innocent people,” the official Ethiopian News Agency reported.

 

Six people were killed and more than 40 others wounded on May 28 last year when grenades were hurled into a stadium where some 100,000 people were gathered for a national for a national celebration. More on Woyanne sentences eight Somalis rebels to death
