Meles up, Mugabe down, Ethiopians can’t swim, they bound to drizzown

There are only two difference between Meles and Mugabe. The first is that Meles plays up to ferenjis studiously and dutifully and Mugabe does not. This allows Meles to feed at the trough of the aid generated by his enforced famine and poverty but either Mugabe is being watched more carefully or Meles is felt to have earned his graft honestly.

The second is clear from the following statement of fact: if Mugabe suddenly discovered a new front in the War Against Terror next door he would immediately be placed on the protected dictators list just like Meles

SOMALIA: Families displaced after homes destroyed

NAIROBI, 9 July 2008 (IRIN) – Hundreds of families in Mogadishu have been displaced after the government demolished their homes, residents told IRIN on 9 July.

“They [Mogadishu officials] have destroyed our homes by force and we have no place to go,” Fadumo Omar said. She said the affected area, Loyado in Abdiaziz district of north Mogadishu, was home to 450 families.

Omar, who is more than 60 years old, said she had lived in Loyado for over 40 years. “I had 13 children and the children have had their children here. Now all of a sudden they destroyed my home and displaced me.”

Ethiopia worried about Djibouti port tariff plan

ADDIS ABABA, July 9 (Reuters) – Land-locked Ethiopia sent its top trade official to Djibouti on Wednesday after the Red Sea state said it would introduce a new tariff on port services.

An Ethiopian government source said Trade and Industry Minister Girma Birru was dispatched after Djibouti unveiled plans to introduce the tariff with effect from August 15. More on Ethiopia worried about Djibouti port tariff plan
