Networks follow Obama overseas

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) – When Barack Obama leaves for his trip to Europe and the Middle East sometime this month, he’ll be making time for the Big Three anchors to interview him while he is on road.
The Obama campaign seeks to shore up its candidate’s foreign policy credentials, one of the places where GOP rival John McCain bests him in most opinion surveys. To get the word out, campaign officials during the past several weeks have been talking to the broadcast networks about logistics for each of the exclusive interviews, all in foreign locales. UNITED NATIONS — Days after seeking an arrest warrant for the Sudanese president, the prosecutor at the International Criminal Court said on Thursday that his next case on the conflict in Darfur would focus on the rebels thought to be responsible for a deadly attack on international peacekeepers in September.
C, 17 July 2008–Insurgents and Ethiopia-backed Somali government troops have exchanged heavy artillery fire in Mogadishu. Both sides claimed to have won the battle, fought with mortars and rocket-propelled grenades, inflicting high casualties on the other.
Witnesses in the capital say at least four civilians were killed when a mortar hit their house. Years of conflict and drought have left more than half of Somalia’s population needing food aid.
