Ethiopian need ‘under-estimated’
It is gratifying to know that Ethiopian Americans are carrying their fair share of the load in helping the economy of their homeland. It was an eye-opening revelation to learn that Ethiopian Americans contributed a cool $1.2 billion to the Ethiopian economy this past year. At least 47 people were killed Monday in a series of violent incidents in Somalia, reports CNN.
A roadside bomb exploded Monday as African Union forces were traveling through K4 square, a major junction in south Mogadishu, witnesses said. The bombing was followed by an exchange of gunfire between AU forces and insurgents, they added.Video Fighting explodes in Somalia 2
Casualties included at least five civilians killed and another 20 people wounded, including an AU soldier, an AU spokesman said.
Also killed was an insurgent, a spokesman for the Islamist insurgents said, and a Somali government soldier, according to a government spokesman.

(CBS/ AP) Democrat Barack Obama proposed more immediate steps Monday to heal the nation’s ailing economy including a 90-day moratorium on home foreclosures at some banks and a two-year tax break for businesses that create new jobs.
With the economic turmoil weighing down his Republican presidential rival, Obama also proposed allowing people to withdraw up to $10,000 from their retirement accounts without any penalty this year and next.
